Summer and Fall 2018 registration dates: Freshmen
First day of assigned Summer 2018 and Fall 2018 registration dates for students continuing as freshmen. Hours for AccessPlus registration are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday-Saturday, and most Sundays.
Research Workshop: Submission software training
The Office for Responsible Research will transition to a new electronic system for submission, review, and maintenance of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) applications. The a-tune tick@lab system will go live in early 2018, integrating research, teaching and testing protocols, animal procurement and management, as well as veterinary medical records.
National Science Foundation CAREER Grant Workshop
Writing a successful National Science Foundation CAREER proposal requires clear articulation of long-term research and education goals that are cohesive and well integrated. Kelvin Chu, an Iowa State federal relations consultant and former NSF program director, will offer an overview of best practices for NSF CAREER submissions and answer questions about the submission process.
Carillon Bell Casting
Watch (via live simulcast) as the first bell for the small-scale campanile/carillon model is cast. Bell founders from Meeks, Watson and Co., Georgetown, Ohio, will be on campus to work with students in the metalcasting lab.

Celebrate Earth Month by getting a head start on your own summer vegetable garden, with a discussion on best practices by Reiman Gardens' own expert vegetable gardener, Horticulturist Sharon Rink.
Lecture: Teaching Dual-Language Learners
The 2018 Barbara E. (Mound) Hansen Lecture in Early Childhood Education. Linda Espinosa will discuss how new science on the brain and language development has implications for improving instruction for young dual-language learners.

Fashion Week: Toned Tuesday
Stop by State Gym for fitness sessions, fresh fruit and refreshments. Classes include high intensity interval training (8-8:50 p.m.), zumba (9-9:50 p.m.) and yoga (10-10:50 p.m.).
