NOMAS Flowergram Fundraiser
The Iowa State chapter of NOMAS (National Organization of Minority Architecture Students) will sell flowergrams to raise funds for students to attend the 2018 NOMA Conference in Chicago in October. Flowergrams include a red or white carnation, chocolate and a personally-chosen poem. Cost is $3 for one flowergram or $5 for two. Flowergrams will be available Wednesday, Feb. 14.
Workshop: The Pedagogy of Canvas Quizzes
Participants will learn how to use Quizzes in Canvas. The workshop will focus on practical ways to customize Quiz Settings as well as create and administer Quizzes with a variety of question types to accommodate specific learning situations. Quiz Moderation and Analytics will be also explored.
Brown Bag: Nature at Noon
Assistant director Aaron Steil will talk about connecting the "Movement" theme into garden displays, education programs, events and more.
Award-Winning Faculty Series: Engaging a Large Class
"Engaging a Large Class: Expectations, active learning, and writing." Rachel Meyers, World Languages and Cultures, will share feasible, practical ways she engages her 200-student Greek and Roman Mythology class. Participants will leave this session with tips for structure, active/small group activities, and even ways to incorporate memorable, manageable-to-grade writing assignments.
Opening reception: "Queer Fashion and Style" exhibit
"Queer Fashion and Style: Stories from the Heartland," an exhibit that analyzes the recent and current histories of fashion through a queer lens by examining the everyday styles and fashions of members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the Midwest from the late 20th century to the present.
Crafty Cocktail Night
"Sweet Treats for your Sweetheart." Join us at the Gardens after hours for a creative project while you sip on adult beverages in a beautiful setting!
