Online event, How Can We Interrupt and Mitigate Implicit Bias When We Witness It? (CIRTLCast Series - Part 4 of 4)
Reducing implicit bias and promoting diversity in STEM is a science and innovation, workforce, and economic imperative (OSTP & OPM, 2016). While the first three sessions of this CIRTLCast series laid the foundation for understanding implicit bias in STEM higher education, in this final session, we will discuss recommendations for interrupting and mitigating implicit bias.
Research workshop: Working with IACUC Protocols Using a-tune
The Office for Responsible Research, Office of the Attending Veterinarian and Laboratory Animal Resources are offering software training for researchers who submit IACUC or IBC protocols. Participants will learn how to navigate the new electronic protocol submission system, a-tune. Training topics will include creating and submitting a protocol, and, for animal users of LAR, how to order animals and manage animal records.

Research workshop: Navigating Your Research with Human Subjects: The IRB Submission Process
In this session you will learn tips on developing and submitting protocols to the IRB. A member of IRB staff will walk through key sections of the non-exempt IRB application and explain what the IRB looks for during the review process. Workshop: Effectively managing disruptive classroom behavior
When disruptive behavior takes place, a number of Iowa State University faculty members recommend addressing it immediately. Their advice: remain calm, assess the situation, listen to student concerns. Especially recommended: provide a clear, firm response that is consistent with responses you've given other students. The strategies and resources in this workshop will help you prepare for these moments before they occur.
Research workshop: Using Campus Resources to Find Funding Opportunities
ISU provides excellent resources to assist faculty with the search for research funding. In this hands-on training you will learn how to strategically use websites and proprietary databases to identify and connect with funding opportunities and to set up saved searches, shared opportunities, and receive funding alert emails.

Research workshop: Export Controls - General Session
This session will teach you about physical and IT security measures for export control plans, and introduces you to the concept of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). You'll learn how to implement security measures for your research data and interests, and gain a better understanding of why these security measures are necessary.
