Women's and Gender Studies Student Conference
"Mobilizing the Intersections of Power and Justice," an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students from across the state to present academic research, creative works, and pedagogy on topics related to gender, feminism, and sexuality. Keynote speaker is Lina-Maria Murillo, gender, women's and sexuality studies; history; and Latina/o/x studies; University of Iowa. Registration is free. Venezuelan violinist Samuel Vargas, winner of the 2021 Sphinx National Competition for Black and Latino talent, will perform Florence Price's Concerto No. 2 for violin and orchestra in a concert that includes Baba Yetu, a setting of the Lordââ'¬â"¢s Prayer in Swahili and the first piece of music written for a video game to win a Grammy Award.
