Claudia Kinkela, senior program officer in the NEH's Division of Research who served as the team lead for the NEH Fellowships Program for over a decade, will introduce NEH funding opportunities, provide tips for writing a successful application, and talk in-depth about NEH Fellowships, which has been her main area of focus for the past 15 years. A Q&A session will follow the presentation.

Workshop: The Command Line for Absolute Beginners (Part 1)
Understanding the command line can be a powerful skill for digital humanists, but it can be intimidating to get started. This two-part workshop allows participants to build familiarity and confidence with the command line interface, learn the syntax of the command line, develop basic navigation and file manipulation skills, and get experience calling and using programs within the terminal.
Workshop: Escape from Spreadsheet Hell
This workshop introduces ways to structure data that is computer and human friendly, practices for documenting your work, and functions for simple data processing and quality control. There's no escaping spreadsheets but you can escape spreadsheet hell. This is a beginner-level workshop that covers how to format data and simple data processing in a spreadsheet program such as Excel. No prior experience is needed.
