Argentine Tango Drop-In Lessons
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. Classes meet every Sunday and drop-ins are welcome. Purchase a dance punch card and attend as often as your schedule allows. Open to ages 18+.
Songwriter Showcase: Goldpine
Goldpine, a husband-wife duo, has been offering its own brand of bold harmony-driven Americana to audiences large and small. Winner of the 2022 Rocky Mountain Songwriter Contest, their distinctive harmonies are clearly a channel for their sometimes-raucous, sometimes-reminiscent compositions.
Cyclone Cinema: Despicable Me 4
Cyclone Cinema is presented by the Student Union Board and showcases a variety of film genres, screening a different movie every weekend Thursday - Sunday during the semester. Sunday film screenings are in open caption format. All other screenings can be open caption as well, as long as the request is made to the staff prior to the movie starting.

Seminar: Deciphering the brain lipidome: From fats to functions
Join this Genetics, Development and Cell Biology seminar to hear Dr. John Vaughen, Sandler Fellow and assistant professor of anatomy at University of California, San Francisco, discuss research that combines genetics, lipidomics, microscopy, behavior and biophysical modeling to prove the developing brain lipidome. This research aims to identify the enzymes and signaling cascades that generate appropriate brain lipidomes and more!
Visiting Artist Talk: Nick Phan
Nick Phan, a Vietnamese-American printmaker born in Kansas City Missouri, will host an artist talk from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Design 0011 (Printmaking Studio). Phan's artwork has been nationally and internationally exhibited. He primarily works with relief prints and book arts, and often finds ways to combine the two into his work. Public reception for the University Print Society's annual postcard print exchange exhibition and silent auction. Light refreshments will be served. Postcards on display are for sale through a bidding process described in the gallery. Bidding ends at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Proceeds help fund the student club's activities for the coming year.

GIS Day (Geographic Information Systems) is for everyone, from the GIS curious to the GIS user. The event features professional speakers from diverse fields speaking on topics related to GIS and geospatial sciences. The public Mapping Masterminds mapmaking competition registration deadline is Nov. 13.

Shawna Saad, senior associate registrar, is leaving Iowa State to serve as registrar at the University of Iowa.
Visiting Artist Talk: Thomas Wharton
Thomas Wharton, a painter, sculptor, and artist, will lead an artist talk from 2:10-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in Design 0011 (Printmaking Studio). His artwork explores how light and shadow define physical space, create illusions, reflections, and moods. To that end, he sculpts wooden "spindles," which he uses as dimmer switches for modernly inspired luminaires to create sets for still-life images.
