"Why Do They Do That? Lessons Learned from Consumer Finance Research at the Federal Reserve Board," Jeanne Hogarth, 2009-10 Hilton Chair visiting scholar. She will discuss her research on electronic banking, patterns of financial behavior, connections between knowledge and behavior in household financial management, and consumer information disclosure. A short reception in the Christian Peterson Art Museum will follow the presentation.

Jeanne Hogarth is a manager for the Federal Reserve Board in Consumer Education and Research, specializing in consumer finance. She will discuss her research on electronic banking, patterns of financial behavior, connections between knowledge and behavior in household financial management, and consumer information disclosure. Her work at the Board involves working with both primary and secondary data and includes both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Most recently, she has been involved in consumer testing of web-based disclosures for financial services. In addition, she supervises staff, student interns, and visiting scholars. She began her career as a high school teacher and served on the faculty at the University of Illinois and Cornell University before joining the Fed in 1995. She holds a doctorate in family and consumer economics from The Ohio State University and is pleased to serve as the Helen LeBaron Hilton Chair in the College of Human Sciences 2009-2010.
