Help raise money for the kids while having a great time dancing!

Iowa State students and spirit dancers will stay on their feet for 15 hours in support of Dance Marathon.

Starting at 9 a.m., dancers will participate in an award winning run-in where they circle around the Great Hall of the Memorial Union. Following the run-in, dancers will learn a morale dance that consists of a medley of songs with choreographed dance moves that will be performed every hour to motivate dancers. Throughout the day dancers will hear families' stories and how Dance Marathon has helped them. At the end of the event, dancers will learn how much money was raised this year. In order to participate, dancers need to raise a minimum of $200 and spirit dancers a minimum of $75. Dancers are Iowa State students and spirit dancers are non-students. Participants will spend the day with Dance Marathon families playing games, watching performances by ISU organizations, and dancing. Businesses have donated food to keep dancers energized throughout the day.

Dance Marathon is a nation-wide, student-run philanthropy that raises money for Children's Miracle Network to help children and their families cope with life-threatening illnesses and diseases. Dance Marathon made its debut at Iowa State thirteen years ago, and it is now the largest student-run philanthropy effort at Iowa State. Each year, Dance Marathon holds a fifteen hour "Kickin' it for the Kids" fundraiser where students that have raised at least $200 each come and spend the day with ISU Dance Marathon sponsored families. Dance Marathon is also funded in part by the Government of the Student Body. Last year, Dance Marathon participants and organizers raised more than $171,000 for University of Iowa Children's Hospital through Children's Miracle Network.
