The inclusive production of the J/psi resonance is studied with the ATLAS detector in LHC proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV using the J/psi decay mode to two muons. Two physics measurements are presented using the first few inverse pb of data: the double-differential production cross section with respect to the transverse momentum and rapidity of the J/psi, and the ratio of J/psi mesons produced from b-hadron decays to the J/psi produced promptly with respect to the J/psi transverse momentum.
