"TSCHAIKOWSKI" - ST. PETERSBURG STATE ORCHESTRA Roman Leontiev, Music Director and Chief Conductor Alexandre Pirojenko, Piano Soloist

Maestro Roman Leontiev leads the orchestra on its first trans-continental tour of the United States. With an extremely diverse repertoire ranging from Baroque through 20th Century music, this ensemble enjoys seemingly unlimited musical possibilities. Hear Wagner's monument to love, "Prelude and Liebestod from the Opera Tristan und Isolde"
partnered with Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor played by Alexandre Pirojenko, one of the most promising young pianists in all of Russia, and Prokofiev's joyous Symphony No. 5 which the composer described as "music glorifying the human spirit" and one of his finest works.
