ABSTRACT: The circumstellar environment is the interface between stars and space. It is the place that mediates the processes of stellar birth and death, and where planetary systems come to be. In this talk I will discuss how my research addresses crucial aspects of circumstellar physics, with special emphasis on mass loss from pulsating stars, and the dynamic processes shaping young extrasolar planetary systems.
