Jim Tobin is Vice President of Industry Affairs at Monsanto and a graduate of Iowa State. During his twenty-nine-year career with Monsanto he has served in various agricultural marketing and commercial development positions, working with Monsanto's seed, biotech and crop chemical customers and products. The Carl and Marjory Hertz Lecture on Emerging Issues in Agriculture.

Jim Tobin joined the Corporate Affairs Group in 2008. A graduate of Iowa State and member of the FarmHouse fraternity, he served as County Extension Director for the Iowa State Extension Service early in his career. He went on to earn an MBA from Harvard University.

His past assignments include Global Product Management, Global Seed Group, Seed Business Team, U.S. Crop Protection Business and the Cotton Business. He is a Trustee of the FarmHouse Foundation and Forest Park Forever. He is also a member of the board of the U.S. Grains Council and a member of the Farm Foundation Roundtable. He has served on the National 4-H Council and the Missouri 4-H Foundation. He is a past chairman of the American Seed Trade Association.
