Dean Crist, vice President of regulation at MidAmerican Energy Company, will present "MidAmerican Energy Company's Commitment to Wind Energy in Iowa" as part of the 2013 Iowa Energy Center's lecture series. RSVP by Nov. 13 to Denise Junod at djunod (at) iastate (dot) edu. The lecture also is available as a webinar. See the URL above for webinar instructions. A reception will follow the presentation from 2-3 p.m.

By 2016, wind power will make up nearly 40% of MidAmerican Energy's generating capacity. The presentation will cover how MidAmerican, working with state regulators, the Office of Consumer Advocate and other Iowa stakeholders, developed the regulatory environment that resulted in over 3,000 MW being built in Iowa that has led to significant economic development and reduction in carbon intensity. Discussion will include how this was accomplished while keeping Iowa electric rates competitive on a Midwest and national basis.
