Mindfulness is a practice of stress reduction that teaches open awareness without judgment and has been known to help with chronic pain and anxiety. In this workshop, you will be introduced to some simple ways to use mindfulness techniques in your writing, teaching, and life.

Ironically, the same mindset that sets us up for success as academics can lead to problems over the course of our careers-- such as writer's block, lack of connection with colleagues and students, and constant anxiety and self-criticism. In this workshop, we will combine mindfulness practices and journaling to begin to move through these problems.

Cassie Premo Steele, Ph.D. is a writing coach with two decades of experience teaching in university and community settings. She is the author of 12 books of scholarship, fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, and her writing coaching practice specializes in the ways writing can be a healing modality to help individuals reach personal and career success. In her practice with individual clients, she models an experiential practice combining mindfulness, meditation, journaling, and emotional awareness to help clients achieve their writing and career goals while living a life of calm and balance.
