Students and faculty in the spring-semester Products of Public Space multidisciplinary option studio will be available with a full display of student projects produced so far this semester. Focus will be on the potential for wind power and food vending in downtown Des Moines. The campus community and public are invited to stop by to view and learn more about the work and the studio.

Taught by Kevin Owens, lecturer in industrial design, Products of Public Space (PoPS) is an interdisciplinary, experimental learning studio that exposes upper-level students to a range of real-world issues of public space in the Greater Des Moines region and beyond. Students then use their expertise to propose creative interventions for Des Moines that focus on entertainment and tourism; economic development; recreation and quality of life; vibrant urban experience; technology development; reversing the "brain drain"; sustainable energy; sustainable watershed; creation of new business models; and lifestyle choices for all generations.
