Reecy joined ISU in 1999 and has served as the director of the Office of Biotechnology since 2009. Reecy earned a doctorate in animal science from Purdue University in 1995, a master's degree in animal science from the University of Missouri in 1992 and a bachelor's degree in animal science at South Dakota State University in 1990.
Maynard Hogberg, who has served as department chair since 2003, announced his plans to retire last year.
