Michael Dahlstrom, assistant professor, Greenlee School of Journalism and Communcation, will present "The Science of Communicating Science to the Public" at the next Osborn Club lecture. Lectures are open to the public following the club dinner.

Abstract: Many scientific organizations are pushing scientists to communicate with the public as there are many intuitive benefits for a science literate public. Yet, the challenges of communicating science to non-experts is much more complex than the simple "transmission" model suggests. This talk will provide an overview of the many challenges, and opportunities, discussed and empirically tested surrounding the science of communicating science to the public
