All new tenured, tenure-eligible, and non-tenure-eligible faculty (assistant, associate, or full professors, lecturers, clinicians, and adjunct faculty hired since September 2013) attend an orientation specifically designed for them.

The New Faculty Orientation gives new faculty the opportunity to meet with one another as well as with senior administrators at Iowa State. This day will include panel discussions with recently appointed junior faculty who will share their best practices to be successful at Iowa State, tips for your first year from the Dean(s) of your College, presentations on successful research programs and the importance of extension and outreach. Break-out sessions on the Ames community, flexible faculty policies, research funding, mentoring, and much more will be available to answer your questions and get you off to a great start. Senior Vice President and Provost Wickert will share his insight on what it means to be part of a land grant university. This day also provides new faculty with the opportunity to network and to socialize.
