Constructing long-lasting roadway infrastructure requires careful process control. But operating earth-moving and compaction equipment, paving machines, and other equipment can be repetitive and often dangerous work that doesn't lend itself to high precision process control. The use of autonomous and robotically controlled road-building equipment has great potential to solve this problem.

This conference is part of an initiative by the Center for Earthworks Engineering Research (CEER) at Iowa State University to study and advance autonomous and robotic-guided equipment to improve productivity, quality, reliability, and safety. The conference will feature a keynote lecture and presentations by internationally recognized experts in the field of robotics and automation in construction.
