Flipped classrooms turn the traditional teaching model on its head by introducing students to new concepts outside of class (rather than through lectures) and using class time to deepen that knowledge through exercises and other activities. This kind of format can fuel collaborative learning and strengthen understanding of complex topics.

Hear from Dr. Laura Green to learn how this design works in practice and join a discussion on how it can be applied to the STEM classroom.

*Facilitated by:*
Laura Green, Associate Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Texas Woman's University

*CIRTL Cast Series: February: Learning in the Active STEM Classroom*
Research - and common sense - shows that students learn better in active classrooms when compared to traditional lecture-based courses. But with so many teaching methods to choose from, how do you know which are most beneficial? In this series we explore several innovative strategies designed to enhance STEM learning. This series is organized by University of Houston through the CIRTL Network.
