Eagle Glass Works and the Iowa City Flint Glass Co., the only glass manufacturers west of the Mississippi in the early 1880's, began when J. H. Leighton came to Iowa in the late 1870's looking to make a name for himself in the glass making industry. Learn about the pitfalls of making glass in Iowa that led to the quick demise of the industry.

You will see examples of rare and highly collectible glass from both factories and some of the controversial patterns. The lecture will be presented by Lonnie and Lynn Sulzberger, collectors, members of Quester group Pearls of Wisdom #1186, and members of the Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG) Society.
