You may register for one or more classes individually or the entire series.

The problem with a maturing home landscape is that all of those gorgeous trees you have been nurturing to their magnificent adult size are now diminishing those full-sun perennial beds. Don't despair; shade gardening is more than hostas and astilbes. The plant palette is much more expansive than many people realize. In addition, shade opens up entirely different garden uses and sensations that balance sun inspired areas. Come learn why shade is 'hot'!

Topic: Ferns

One of the most elegant and useful plants in the outdoor landscape is the fern. Most gardeners don't realize that there are an enormous variety of these ubiquitous plants in a myriad of sizes, forms, and textures - so many they fill a whole class. In recent years, there has been a virtual explosion of new selections and cultivars with no indication of slowing down soon. Selection goes well beyond ostrich and Christmas ferns! There are a number of mutations that provide fascinating deviations in frond shape; you will be amazed at the forms created.

Preregistration with prepayment is required by Monday, March 28. Cost for one class is $16 for members and $20 for the general public. Cost for the series is$60 for members and $75 for the general public. Iowa State University students pay 15% off the member rate.
