The Honorable Mary Robinson was the first woman elected president of Ireland and just completed her term as the United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Change. World Affairs Series

Mary Robinson has argued landmark cases before the European Court of Human Rights, founded Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative, and introduced the human rights agenda into the core of UN activities. She continues to serve as a member of the Elders, a highly respected independent group of world leaders focused on peace and human rights and founded by Nelson Mandela. She studied law at Trinity College, Dublin, King's Inns and Harvard Law School.
