Iowa State students who participated in the Arab Spring in their own country will share their stories. World Affairs Series

Participants include Karim Abdelhamid, Egypt; Mohamed Abufalgha, Libya; and Mohamed Elfourtia, Libya.

Moderator Nell Gabiam is an Iowa State faculty member who has conducted extensive research on humanitarian and development aid in Palestinian refugee camps in Syria. Her more recent research focuses on Palestinians who have become refugees as a result of the ongoing Syrian war and has taken her to Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, France, Sweden, and Germany. She has appointments in the Department of World Languages and Cultures and the Department of Political Science.
