"Build a pathway to student learning in Canvas," a four-day event full of interactive, hands-on and collaborative activities to give ISU's instructors skills, time and space for designing or substantially revising their courses. The Institute will take place May 21-24.

Take a look at a typical day:

8:30 am - 12:00 pm - Learn about practical guidelines for designing a learner-centered course and various strategies for developing transparent and aligned pathways to student learning.

1:00 pm -3:30 pm - Discover advanced Canvas functionalities and ways to apply them in your planned course design.

3:30 pm - 5:00 pm - Receive individual attention and guidance on your course design and development (optional).

By the end of CELT Course Design Institute participants will be able to:

== Develop a course design which aligns student factors, learning objectives, outcomes, summative and formative assessments and learning experiences.
== Choose and apply appropriate functionalities for creating course design elements in Canvas.
== Evaluate a course design using the principles of alignment.

A course design poster demonstrating a thoughtful alignment and at least one course element created in Canvas are expected from each participant. Course design posters will be showcased on the last day of the Institute.

By June 4, all course design posters will be returned with constructive feedback by the facilitators of CELT Course Design Institute as a way to follow up with each participant on his/her plan to implement and continue to improve their course designs.

*Who will benefit from participation?*
ISU's instructors wishing to learn about course design and developing courses in Canvas are welcome to apply. Selected instructors will be asked to agree to the following condition:

== Instructors must participate in all four days of the Institute.
== Instructors must choose one course to re(design).
== Instructors must be intermediate Canvas users.

The Institute can accommodate 15 instructors. The selection process is designed to ensure that at least two instructors come from the same field/subject/department for fruitful peer-to-peer communication/collaboration.

*How to Apply*
Apply now by filling out the online application form. The application deadline is April 30, 2018. You will be informed whether you have been selected by May 5, 2018.
