Join us in downtown Ames for the opening night of the Smithsonian Institute Traveling Exhibit, "Hometown Teams" The Hometown Teams exhibit captures the stories that unfold on neighborhood fields and courts, and the underdog heroics, larger-than-life legends, fierce rivalries and gut-wrenching defeats. For more than 100 years, sports have reflected the trials and triumphs of the American experience and helped shape the national character.

This event is free and open to the public. Highlights of the evening: Free hotdogs, peanuts, and popcorn while they last, The Iowa State University Spirit Squad and Cy, marching band performances, rarely seen ISU memorabilia, Dan Gable memorabilia, 6-on-6 basketball display from the Iowa Women's Archives, Story County High School displays, a history of sports in Story County, adaptive sports in Ames display, and Aperture: The Biennial Juried Photography Exhibit 2018 Theme: Community Sports

Hosting Locations: Octagon Center for the Arts, ISU Design on Main, Ames Historical Society, Ames Public Library, Little Woods Herbs & Teas.

This a free community event sponsored by Ames Convention and Visitor's Bureau community grant, Ames Tribune, City of Ames, Hunziker Realty, Hunziker Property Management. HCS Builders, Iowa State University Athletics Department, Mediacom, Wells Fargo Bank, and the Ames Chamber of Commerce.
