The goal of the prestigious NSF CAREER Grant is to help promising researchers "build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research." Writing a successful CAREER proposal requires clear articulation of long-term research and education goals that are cohesive and well integrated.

Dr. Kelvin Chu, one of Iowa State's federal relations consultants and a former NSF program director, will give you an overview of best practices for CAREER submissions and answer questions about the submission process. Recent CAREER grant awardees from Iowa State will share their experiences from the proposal development process, including their plans for broader impacts, evaluation, and other program requirements. This workshop will be most beneficial for third- or fourth-year faculty who have begun to establish their research interests.

Target audience: Third- and fourth-year faculty who have begun to establish their research programs and who are considering applying for the NSF CAREER Award in the next one to two years.
