According to Merriam-Webster, a "weed" is simply "a plant that is not valued where it is growing and is usually of vigorous growth". Or the scientist's definition: "A weed is simply a plant out of place".

Dandelions and clover attract a myriad of pollinators, while garlic mustard spreads rapidly and threatens local biodiversity. What causes a "weed" to earn the notoriety of invasive? Are ornamental species ecologically harmful just because they are non-native? Are native species always the best for biodiversity? Join Director Ed Lyon for an in-depth discussion of perceived "weeds" and their attributes to the ecosystem and possibly home landscape. Preregistration with prepayment is required by Tuesday, January 29.
