A conference all about Iowa college and university students and sustainability. An opportunity to connect and share initiatives and achievements in environmental, social and economic sustainability happening on campuses and in communities throughout Iowa, as well as a chance for visioning and strategizing opportunities to network and partner.

Included in this day long professional development opportunity will be a keynote address from Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, an 18-year-old indigenous climate activist, hip-hop artist, author and a voice on the front lines of a global youth-led environmental movement. Mr. Martinez has addressed the UN General Assembly, taken on local issues such as eliminating pesticides from parks and is a lead plaintiff in a youth-led lawsuit against the U.S. government for their inaction on climate change. He also serves as Youth Director of the Earth Guardians, a tribe of young activists, artists, and musicians inspiring global change.

In addition, the conference will also feature student sustainability engagement highlights from each campus and the presentation, discussion and collaborative consideration of sustainability case studies - from Iowa campuses with transferability to Iowa campuses. The conference closing discussion will be focused on goal-setting for a statewide student sustainability network, next step action items and the announcement of next year's second annual student conference location.
