Stash the Trash is a volunteer effort that brings students and community members together to help clean up the Ames community. The event is supported by the City of Ames, Iowa State University and Iowa Home Consulting. Volunteers can choose to work alone, with a group of people, or with an organization - and clean-up their neighborhood or favorite outdoor area.

Take part in this annual clean-up and beautification event!!

Beginning April 17, clean-up supplies will be available for pick-up from the Community Center at City Hall or at the Resource Recovery Plant at 420 E. 2nd Street. Supplies include 2 garbage bags and 2 pair of latex gloves. Individuals, families and groups can choose a time to pick-up trash, at your convenience, the week before and the week after April 29.

For collected trash - A roll-off container will be available to "Stash your Trash" at Parking Lot S3, on the Iowa State University Campus, near Reiman Gardens, on April 29-30. If you need have items to dispose of on days other than April 29 and 30, you can "Stash your Trash" at the Resource Recovery Plant, free of charge (just note what area you cleaned up when you arrive), during normal business hours. You can also "stash" in your own trash for pickup. If you or your group have a large quantity of bags or large oversize trash items to be picked up, call Iowa Home Consulting at 515-450-2946, and leave a message noting what you have, where it is and your name and contact number.
