In the first part of talk, we will discuss the importance of dynamical spin effects in the holographic light-front wavefunctions of the light pseudoscalar mesons. Using a universal AdS/QCD scale and constituent quark masses, we find that such effects are maximal in the pion where they lead to an excellent simultaneous description of a wide range of observables. In the second part, I will talk about the nucleon structure from an effective Hamiltonian. The wavefunctions are generated by solving the eigenvalue equation in a basis light-front quantization. Fitting the model parameters, the wave functions lead to good simultaneous description of electromagnetic form factors, radii, and parton distribution functions etc. for the proton.
