Ken Prewitt, past director of the U.S. Census Bureau (1998-2001) and Carnegie Professor of Public Affairs at Columbia University, will present "The Next Census: What's New?"

Prewitt will speak on the future of the decennial census, conducted every 10 years and most recently in 2020. The next census (2030) will less resemble the 2020 census than the current census resembles the first census in 1790.

He will take up such themes as: privacy vs accuracy; government data or commercial data; the "Big Brother is Watching" anxiety; getting serious about fit for use; how important is granularity; is the census for sale?
