Mary Swander, a leader in conversations about farming and the wider rural environment in Iowa, will read her poetry in this unique program.

With Mary Swander, Former Poet Laureate of Iowa and emerita Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Iowa State University

Mary Swander is a leader in conversations about farming and the wider rural environment in Iowa through creative practices of theater and writing. In addition to providing helpful insight to Associate Curator Adrienne Gennett in her process of curating and contributing to the exhibition publication for Compelling Ground: Landscapes, Environments, and People of Iowa, Swander was also an original co-editor of the exhibition publication for Land of the Fragile Giants: Landscapes, Environments, and Peoples of the Loess Hills. Swander will read her poetry in this unique program that will be offered virtually.

This program will be held as a webinar and participants must register in advance. Registrants will receive the program link via email several days in advance to the event. There will also be a limited capacity in person screening of the virtual event in the Brunnier Art Museum.
