Explore how the Art on Campus Collection at Iowa State incorporates public memorial to honor the sacrifice of life, significant contributions by individuals, and showcase narratives of progress with a focus on the artwork of Christian Petersen.

With Assistant Curator Sydney Marshall and Collections Manager Allison Sheridan

From his early work to his 21-year tenure at Iowa State through his retirement years, artist Christian Petersen visited the topic of memorial and commemorative art throughout his career. In conjunction with the exhibition From Time Immemorial: Art as Commemoration in the Neva Petersen Visual Literacy Gallery in Morrill Hall, this conversation will explore how the Art on Campus Collection at Iowa State incorporates public memorial to honor the sacrifice of life, significant contributions by individuals, and showcase narratives of progress with a focus on the artwork of Christian Petersen. This in-person event will have a limited audience capacity and requires pre-registration.
