Paola Pittoni, Associate Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering and university early achievement in teaching awardee, will share with you ten ways to connect with students. When students have a rapport with their instructor, they feel more comfortable in the learning environment and are more likely to ask questions and collaborate in the learning goals.

Discuss techniques for building mutual respect, navigating the boundaries between your authentic self and your teacher persona, creating funny end-of-semester awards, and making a learning space that is both forgiving and yet firm with high standards. Join this discussion with Dr. Pittoni and your peers about the ways we personally connect with students and help them understand that grades and grading are not personal--learning and relationships are.
