Peter Hamann is an American ceramicist who studied in Iowa as a young artist and has lived in Japan for over 30 years where he has perfected his exquisitely beautiful ceramic forms. Through his time in Japan he has become exceptionally knowledgeable in the art of the tea ceremony, a highly important and respected event in Japanese culture. Peter will share his artwork and knowledge in this lecture.

Traditional Shibori tying and tie-dye techniques will be used to create interesting patterns in the fabric. We will also have a discussion on preparing and working with natural dyes.
