Research workshop: Working with IACUC Protocols Using a-tune
The Office for Responsible Research, Office of the Attending Veterinarian and Laboratory Animal Resources are offering software training for researchers who submit IACUC or IBC protocols. Participants will learn how to navigate the new electronic protocol submission system, a-tune. Training topics will include creating and submitting a protocol, and, for animal users of LAR, how to order animals and manage animal records.

Learn the basics about post-award actions and the most frequently asked questions. We'll talk about how to request a PI change, who can submit a no-cost extension request, who really needs to sign a revised Goldsheet, and other useful information about budgeting and managing award changes. Ruth E. Carter is the Oscar-nominated costume designer for Marvel's Black Panther, for which she conceptualized and created more than 1,000 costumes for the world of Wakanda. She has worked in the industry for more than three decades and is credited with over forty films.
More Than Just a Game, Discrimination in Sports in Iowa
Iowa's athletes have long impacted their teams, communities and sports they played, but African Americans did so while facing off against more than just the opposing team. They fought for the right to equal treatment on and off the field. Highlighting people such as Iowan and Olympian Thomas Hill, Drake University athlete Johnny Bright and his effect on the football helmet, and members of the Buxton Wonders, Iowa's Negro Leagues team.

From 1890 to 1930, Ellis Island was the first experience of life in America for millions of immigrants. First and second class passengers who arrived in New York Harbor were not required to undergo the inspection process at Ellis Island. However, the process was far different for "steerage" or third class passengers; they were transported from the pier by ferry to Ellis Island where they underwent medical and legal inspections.

Lunch and Learn: Money Management
A money management workshop for undergraduate and graduate students. The lunch-and-learn includes an introduction to the basics of student loans, the repayment process and how loan borrowing and other financial decisions may affect personal credit. Attendees will be entered into the drawing to win a $2,500 scholarship. Presented by the Student Loan Education Office.

This workshop will focus on the flexible faculty policies available that help foster the continued success of our faculty. Policies to be covered include part-time tenure track, extension of the tenure clock, arrival of a child and how the Faculty Modified Duties Assignment policy can be of assistance, as well as how these intersect with other HR policies and the federal Family and Medical Leave Act. Each work of art in the exhibition Unpacked: Refugee Baggage is a chance for viewers to better empathize and come to understand the struggles of individuals, to eliminate the stigma, and to truly see the people who carry the stamp of refugee. ISU faculty, staff, and students will share their own personal narratives on the refugee experience, allowing their lived experiences to further understanding, empathy, and inclusion at Iowa State.
