Documentary: Nobody Speak, Trials of the Free Press
The 2017 Netflix documentary "Nobody Speak," which was nominated for a Grand Jury Prize at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. The film explores the Hulk Hogan "sex tapes" case against Gawker Media and examines the threat of big money to a free press. Snacks will be provided during the showing. An informal discussion with members of the First Amendment Committee will follow. Part of the First Amendment Days celebration.
Wearables Design Show
First-year students in the Design Studies 102 studio will investigate how their work can interact with and be designed for the human body and explore materials and fabrication processes, kinetic behavior and more. They will showcase their wearables in a runway-style show with DJ, judges and awards. Attendees can interact with the models and their wearables after the show.

Live Art: "Express Yourself"
Phoenix-based "visual wizard" Timmy Ham spreads positivity and inspiration through design and adventure. Watch a live demonstration as he creates a street art-inspired mural to commemorate First Amendment Days 2019. Students can express themselves on a chalkboard wall under the tent. A Q&A session is planned when the art is revealed at 2:30 p.m. Part of the First Amendment Days celebration.
Nature at Noon: Volunteering at Reiman Gardens
Volunteer coordinator Taylor Woodcock will talk about some of the projects and opportunities volunteers engage with. As a nonprofit organization, Reiman Gardens depends on the generosity and dedication of hundreds of volunteers contributing thousands of hours to bring beautiful planting displays and butterflies to the public. Joe Benesh (BArch 1999 Architecture) is the president and CEO of the Ingenuity Company, a strategic planning, organizational development and design thinking firm based in Des Moines. His lunchtime lecture is part of the College of Design's (d)innovation symposium co-sponsored by the interdisciplinary design program, ISG + StruXture Architects and Nimaroh Design Studios.

Robert DeYoung, Koch Foundation Distinguished Professor in Business Economics and Harold Otto Chair in Economics at the University of Kansas School of Business, will present "Unpacking the U.S. Economy."
Civil Encounters: Exploring "Other" Urbanisms
Michael Martin, a Milwaukee-based planner and adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will offer insights into the history of urbanization in Cuba and describe how Havana's social housing experiments aim to improve dignity and self-respect among those with the greatest need. This is the final session in the Spring 2019 Urban Design Colloquium: Questions of Civility.
Campaign Series: Presidential Candidate Eric Swalwell
Congressman Eric Swalwell is serving his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing California's North Silicon Valley 15th Congressional District. He was born in Iowa and spent his early years in Algona, where his father served as the police chief. His talk is part of the Campaign Series in 2019, providing the university community with opportunities to question candidates before the Iowa Caucuses.
Intermediate Glass Beads Workshop
Experiment with etching, pixie dust, and baking soda to produce a variety of effects including pearl finishes and beach glass looks. Students must complete a beginning glass beads class (4 week or one day intensive) before taking this workshop. Supply fee includes glass for class time only, and propane/MAPP is available for purchase if needed. Free week includes use of tools but no supplies.

Since 1966, the Vans brand has created action-focused footwear, apparel and accessories for skateboarders, surfers, BMX riders and snowboarders across the world with a goal of promoting creative expression and inspiring youth culture.
Cyclone Voice
Cyclone Voice is a singing competition that highlights the vocal talents of Iowa State students. This year's finale will be hosted by country singer Mason Ramsey, who gained fame with viral video of his yodeling. Ramsey will host the annual singing competition, introducing the show and each of the student performers. He will also perform a short music set during the judge's deliberations, before the 2019 Cyclone Voice winner is announced.
