Lecture: Intro to Disability Studies
"Beyond Accommodations: An Introduction to Disability Studies," Dan Van Sant, staff advocate at Disability Rights Iowa, will talk about : ableism as a form of oppression, how ableism is deeply entrenched in our culture/language, and the idea that disability is more than accommodations -- it is a way of existing in the world, similar to other forms of diversity. Part of Disability Awareness Week.
Documentary and discussion: How Millennials Can Save America and the World
"The Revolution Generation: How Millennials Can Save the World (Before It's Too Late)" is a new film - and book - from Sundance Award-winning filmmaker Josh Tickell. The film explores the challenges millennials and other young people face in solving current environmental, economic, and social crisis. The film features interviews with Corbin Bleu, Senator Bernie Sanders, Rosario Dawson, and Xiutezcatl Martinez.
