Workshop: Morel mushroom certification
To legally sell morel mushrooms in Iowa, sellers must complete a certification workshop that covers identifying morels and false morels. People can be poisoned by eating mushrooms that are misidentified as morels. By the end of the workshops, participants will recognize true morels from false morels. Register online.
Faces of Iowa State LIVE Portrait Painting - Kathy Howell
University Museums, Iowa State University, is pleased to announce the live painting of 16 portraits by celebrated Iowa artist Rose Frantzen. The portrait painting sessions will take place during a March 29 through April 6, 2017 residency in the lower gallery of the Christian Petersen Art Museum, 0003 Morrill Hall, on central campus. All portrait sessions will be open to the public to watch Frantzen's artistic process evolve.

Sculpting an Icon: Petersen and the Fountain of the Four Seasons
Beginning with his portrait sculpture of Meskwaki leader Pushetonequa, followed by his illustrations for the book Cha Ki Shi, and including his Fountain of the Four Seasons, Christian Petersen was often called upon to represent the indigenous people of Iowa in his art. As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Fountain of the Four Seasons, hear from Jerome Thompson, retired state curator for Iowa, about Petersen's art.
Walk-in Argentine Tango
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for dancing better. From 5-7pm, the dance floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie and working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.
