Tour, a correspondent for NBC, is the author of Who's Afraid of Post-Blackness, a look at what it means to be black today and how blackness has changed over the decades. In researching the book he interviewed more than one hundred prominent blacks, including Jesse Jackson, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Cornel West, Malcolm Gladwell, Soledad O'Brien, Kara Walker, and Paul Mooney. The Social Justice Summit provides students with the opportunity to increase their awareness of inclusion issues and to develop action plans that will assist them in being agents of change on campus. Registration is free and open to ISU undergraduate and graduate students.

The Social Justice Summit provides students with the opportunity to increase their awareness of inclusion issues and to develop action plans that will assist them in being agents of change on campus. Registration is free and open to ISU undergraduate and graduate students.
Varieties Semifinals
Varieties has been showcasing the talent of Iowa State students for more than 80 years. Performances consist of 18-20 minute "mini-musicals" that are performed with original lyrics and choreography. Shorter acts, called vignettes, perform as well. A vignette consists of any talent that a student may have, from belly dancing to stand-up comedy. In this way, Varieties serves as Iowa State University's student talent show!

ZuZu African Acrobats
The Zuzu Acrobats is a 45 minute show and it features 5 male acrobats from Mombasa Kenya. This show is similar to a show you would see in a nightclub in the coastal region of Kenya and Tanzania. This year the group performed in America's Got Talent! This event is part of Black History Month!

Assembled: Metal, Clay, Fiber, Wood & Mixed Media Student Exhibit Reception
Assembled is a juried exhibition showcasing mixed media and three dimensional artworks by Iowa State students. The show is open for any and all Iowa State students to enter. The drop off date for submissions is Sunday, February 5th from 12pm - 3pm. The reception will be held on Tuesday, February 21st at 7pm. There will be a showing of the documentary "Waste Land" following the reception.

Poetry Reading: Aimee Nezhukumatathil
Poet Aimee Nezhukumatathil was born in Chicago to a Filipina mother and a father from South India. Her recently published book of poetry, Lucky Fish, moves from India to the Philippines to New York state to capture a rich life, richly lived. Erin Krupka is an experimental behavioral economist who studies how the desire to conform to economic social norms influences immoral and selfish behavior. She tries to understand why individuals often behave in a manner consistent with group norms, even in settings where there is no strategic advantage for doing so, including corporate settings.
