Argentine Tango Practica
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for better dancing. From 5-7pm the dance floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie and working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.

Sassy Embroidery Workshop
Get out your Urban Dictionary, write out your favorite song lyrics, recite a line from a movie, or find something trending on Twitter. We will have design/text ideas, or bring in your own and learn a couple basic stitches. Finished pieces can be hung in the provided hoops or stitched onto another project.
Screen Printing Class
Learn an inexpensive way to create custom t-shirts. Using your own design, learn to make a screen with the photographic emulsion method. Bring in your shirts and print away! This class is required in order to use our screen printing equipment.

Oil Painting Class
Become comfortable using oil paint, and gain confidence in color mixing, composition, and paint application. It is meant for both beginners who have never painted before and more experienced painters who would like to try a new perspective and get a chance to paint with others.

Upcycle bicycle inner tubes into wearable art. Add patterns and imagery by stamping with white ink. Add snaps and walk out with a "tubular" cuff! Or, for the hardcore bikers, add Velcro instead of snaps and make an ankle cuff that will tether your pant leg while riding. Meet members of the Ames Bicycle Coalition, a group of community members dedicated to the development of safe infrastructure for cyclists.

Edward Buckler is a USDA-ARS research geneticist who leads the Buckler Lab for Maize Genetics and Diversity at Cornell University. A member of the National Academy of Sciences, Buckler uses genomics and statistical genetics to understand and dissect complex traits in maize, biofuel grasses, cassava and grapes.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Spiral String Painting
"Painting" bisque is a fun and relaxing activity that can be done solo or with a group of friends. Create a circular pattern using jute twine and contrasting colors. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.
