A handsome prince, the Queen of the Night and her beautiful daughter, a man in a bird costume who is looking for a wife, a magic flute which has the power to change sorrow into joy, and arias that are some of the most difficult to sing in all of opera combine to create an evening of beauty, comedy, love, and a happy-ever-after conclusion. Lecture and reception: Simon Estes
International opera star Simon Estes will share his experiences singing the role of Sarastro in "The Magic Flute" on the world's great opera stages. Estes is an Iowa native and ISU artist-in-residence. The reception and lecture (6:30 p.m.) precede ISU music and theater's collaborative production of "The Magic Flute" at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Theater.

Iowa Caucus exhibit and resource fair
The State Historical Society of Iowa's "First in the Nation" traveling exhibit on the Iowa Caucuses will be on display, along with an excerpt from IPTV's documentary on the Iowa Caucuses. The League of Women Voters will offer voter registration (2-6 p.m.) and a resource fair will be held (5:15-6 p.m.). Part of the Catt Center's caucus education series of activities.
Workshop: Iowa Caucus Education
Guest speakers will talk about the importance of the Iowa Caucuses and explain the Republican Party caucus process and the Democratic Party caucus process. Following these presentations, members of the Republican and Democratic parties will lead mock caucuses for the workshop participants. Part of the Catt Center's caucus education series of activities.
