Youth Program: Plant Pals
Join us and cultivate a real garden at Reiman Gardens. We will learn about and grow lots of vegetables, pumpkins, tomatoes and sunflowers, as well as beautiful flowers. Each session has hands-on activities to interact with all the wonderful plants that we enjoy and eat. Classes are great for kids of all ages to participate in with an adult. Classes are held every other Thursday from May 7 to September 10.
Master Gardener Lecture: Hostas and Their Neighbors
Story County Master Gardener, Don Draper, will discuss hostas with companion plants. Hostas are great plants for many types of shade gardens. Their beauty and features can be enhanced when grown in plant communities containing specific trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals. The focus of the presentation will be on those plants that are great neighbors in a hosta plant community.
Plant and Flower Drawing Class
This is a 6 week course on Thursdays May 21, May 28, June 4, June 11, June 18, and June 25 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. This six-week beginner course will introduce how to use plants as the subject of art with easy approaches and successive lessons. Learn from artist Megan Henson as you draw from flowers and plants in the classroom, the Hughes Conservatory, and even get inspired by those early spring blooms in the outdoor gardens.
