Great Plants for Iowa Class
Topic: Small Trees Go beyond the crabapple. Learn more about the many small, colorful, often blooming trees perfectly suited for the residential landscape in Iowa. Many of these wonderful plants burst into bloom early in the season, so we've moved our class so we can actually see them. Learn more about the dozens of colorful blooms that grow from bulbs, corms, rhizomes, and tubers in the Iowa garden.
Gardening for Pollinators Class
Learn how to attract native pollinators to your garden from an expert, as Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing Curator and entomologist, Nathan Brockman, discusses the favorite plants for butterflies, bees, beetles and others. Learn about effective pollinator garden characteristics, where and when to plant, and which host and nectar plants are best for different species.

Nature Journaling Class
This is a 4 week course on Tuesdays beginning May 26, June 2, June 9, and June 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Whether you are a budding naturalist, artist, or writer, Reiman Gardens is the ideal setting to observe and record pollinating insects, tropical butterflies, and native flora and fauna.
Photographic Composition Class
This is a 4 week course on Tuesdays beginning June 2, June 9, June 16, and June 23 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Mark Stoltenberg, of Mark Stoltenberg Photography, wants you to see what he sees. Let the professional help you create stirring and beautiful compositions by learning to examine the best angles, lighting, timing, and in-camera cropping of an image.
Workshop: Floral Design Series
Arrangement Theme: "Independence Day Arrangements" - Prep for the 4th of July and honor those who served in the US Armed Forces with a stylish arrangement in red, white, and blue. Learn the tips and skills used by professionals and create your own one-of-a-kind floral designs.

Behind the Scenes
Topic: "Reiman Gardens' New Site Plan" This program is perfect for volunteers! Join staff each month for an interactive, behind the scenes look at Reiman Gardens. Each month's topic features a mini-tour, interesting facts, and the chance to see many things not typically open to the public. Come each month to learn more about Reiman Gardens and its many plants and butterflies.
Black & White Digital Photography Class
This is a 4 week course on Wednesdays beginning June 3, June 10, June 17, and 24 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. This course builds on the technical foundations of digital photography, expanding practical skills while also fostering your aesthetic awareness and vision as a photographer.

Youth Program: Plant Pals
Join us and cultivate a real garden at Reiman Gardens. We will learn about and grow lots of vegetables, pumpkins, tomatoes and sunflowers, as well as beautiful flowers. Each session has hands-on activities to interact with all the wonderful plants that we enjoy and eat. Classes are great for kids of all ages to participate in with an adult. Classes are held every other Thursday from May 7 to September 10.
Garden Drawing Workshop
This is a 4 week course on Thursdays beginning June 18, June 25, July 2, and July 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Join local artist and Creative Department founder, Yvonne Brune for a 6-week course exploring the basics of garden and nature drawing, using the indoor and outdoor gardens as inspiration. Learn techniques in pencil, pen and ink, and enrich your drawings with the use of color by working with pastels.
Plant and Flower Drawing Class
This is a 6 week course on Thursdays May 21, May 28, June 4, June 11, June 18, and June 25 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. This six-week beginner course will introduce how to use plants as the subject of art with easy approaches and successive lessons. Learn from artist Megan Henson as you draw from flowers and plants in the classroom, the Hughes Conservatory, and even get inspired by those early spring blooms in the outdoor gardens.
