"One Yard Wonder" Sewing: Bag Class
A class for beginning sewers who can thread the machine and sew a little but need some direction to practice their skills. Using the book One Yard Wonders, Judith will lead students through the steps to make the "Bees Knees Pocket Bag." Just bring a yard of 44/45" quilting-weight cotton fabric to class and leave with a great new summer accessory. Sewing machines provided but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
Argentine Tango Practica
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance.

Postdoctoral Research Day
Featured speakers include National Postdoctoral Association Advisory Council members Philip Clifford and Brendan Delany; Alex King, former director of the U.S. Department of Energy's Ames Laboratory; and Dr. Donna Hammond, interim executive associate dean of the University of Iowa's Carver College of Medicine.
Great Plants for Iowa
"Conifers" Great Plants for Iowa series will allow participants to develop knowledge of the wide variety of garden plants that grow well in Central Iowa. Covering nearly 500 plants, these 16 classes are spread across several years. Each class focuses on identification, cultural requirements, and the use of the plants in gardens and the broader landscape.
Oil Painting Class
Through this class, students will become comfortable using oil paint, and gain confidence in color mixing, composition, and paint application. It is meant for both beginners who have never painted before and more experienced painters who would like to try a new perspective and get a chance to paint with others. Students will share supplies.

Wheel Pottery Class
Students will be guided through all aspects of forming bowls, mugs, vases and more on the pottery wheel. Learn hand-pulling, glazing and finishing techniques. Open to absolute beginners as well as those with experience who would like to improve their technique and abilities.
Swing Class
This class will lead you through basic swing dancing so that you'll feel comfortable on the social dance floor and dancing to a variety of swing music. We'll touch on elements of Jitterbug, Charleston and Lindy Hop. Swing is a great social dance and is loads of fun. No partner or experience required!

Haiga - Poetry & Painting
Exploring the art of haiga, a style of Japanese painting that often accompanies a haiku poem, this crash combo course will offer two sessions of haiku, and two sessions of brush painting, followed by a garden exhibition. Students will first learn to write and appreciate the beautiful poetic art of haiku with poet Dennis Maulsby, then will push the art form to new levels by discovering various techniques for brush painting with artist and instruct
