"Create Peace" for 11 Days of Global Unity
For the fifth year, Ames will participate in the 11 Days of Global Unity, a program launched in 2004 as a promotion of peace, justice and environmental sustainability. It seeks to inspire, inform and involve humanity in helping to create a world that works for all.

Argentine Tango Practica
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4- 5pm moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for dancing better. From 5 - 7pm the dance floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie and working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.
Sanskriti
Join the Indian Student Organization for a night dedicated to traditional Indian dance and music. All performances are intended to showcase the richness of classical Indian music forms like Carnatic, Hindustani and dance forms such as Bharatanatyam, Odissi and Kathak. Special performances by Dr. Sree Nilkanta and Mrs. Sumana Sriram. Indian snacks will be served.

Basketweaving: Witchy Boo
Weave a witch with a witch hat and broom just in time for the Halloween season. This class will use black dyed reed so wear old clothing and bring a towel.
Wheel Pottery
Students will be guided through all aspects of forming bowls, mugs, vases and more on the pottery wheel. Learn hand-pulling, glazing and finishing techniques. Open to absolute beginners as well as those with experience that would like to improve their technique and abilities.

Creative dance class for kids
For children age six and older. Creations Dance Class provides personal expression and problem solving all through being active in a very enjoyable manner. Class meets Tuesdays through Nov. 13.

Woodshop Orientation
For the beginner who wants to learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment. Proper usage of the machinery will be covered, as well as woodshop safety. This class is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.

Mark Stoltenberg is back to teach a four part workshop covering the basics of macro flower and insect photography. Topics include equipment and how to use it, depth of field, aperture, light, composition, finding your subject, and tips and tricks. Each class is broken into 3 parts: classroom discussion, hands-on practice taking pictures by the students, and review of the images taken.
