Most instructors: (1) Ban technology in class, (2) Use devices for specific purposes, such as "clickers" for real-time polling, or (3) Leave the challenges of digital self-regulation to students who bring their own device(s) to class. Since 2001, I've been researching the cognitive and educational psychology of learning with digital technology.

Spring Semester Teaching Assistant Seminar
All TAs who are new to the ISU classroom, or who have received a teaching assignment different from what they have done before, are strongly encouraged to attend this seminar. Discussion will focus on topics such as classroom management, effective grading, and preparing for the first day of class. Ideas for specific types of teaching, time management, and working with students will also be shared.

These auditions, in 41 districts around the country, are the first of three tiers of competition leading to a concert of 10 finalists with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York City. The public is invited to come for an aria or two or to stay for the entire afternoon.
