Open house: Power Plant's 125th
Nine years after Thomas Edison pioneered cogeneration -- a very efficient process of generating both power and heat -- Iowa State incorporated it into its first power plant (1891). The university has been cogenerating ever since. Stop by the open house to celebrate this 125-year milestone. Refreshments, tours and a 2 p.m. presentation are planned.

The leading small jazz groups on campus commence again to feature profile concerts about some of their favorite artists. Learn about who these people are and hear the young musicians delve deeply into tunes that are either written or made famous by these iconic jazzers. This concert also serves as the swan song for two of the more talented jazz saxophonists to grace the stage in over a dozen years - Ian Abbott on tenor and Nick Doss on alto.

On January 29, 2016 Tedeschi Trucks Band, led by the husband-and-wife team of singer-guitarist Susan Tedeschi and guitar virtuoso Derek Trucks, capped an extraordinary and transformative year with the release of Let Me Get By, their third full-length LP and debut for Fantasy Records.
