Symposium: Linguistic Perspectives on Discipline-Specific Language
Linguistics researchers who analyze academic discipline-specific language vs. actual writing practices and training for students in those disciplines will present. The intent is to improve pedagogy of writing in STEM disciplines. Faculty and students are invited.
CODAC Spring Art Sale
Final day of the biannual sale of work by students in the integrated studio arts program, sponsored by CODAC (College of Design Art Club). Ceramics, prints, photos, wood items, and paintings will be offered for sale. Most items range from $5 to $150.

Cheryl Farr, professor of apparel, events and hospitality management, is retiring. A program will begin at 4 p.m.

Graphic Design Senior Portfolio Night
Graduating seniors in graphic design will display their portfolios and work samples at "The Journey is the Destination," the 2014 Graphic Design Senior Portfolio Night. Professionals are encouraged to stop by from 5 to 7 p.m.; the public is invited to view students' work from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Dance social
Free dance social hosted by the ISU Ballroom Dance Club. Singles welcome. Dress is casual; indoor shoes or socks are required.

Mid Iowa Woodcarvers Woodworking Show
The Mid-Iowa Woodcarvers return for their one-day show on Saturday, May 3, 2014! Guests will have the opportunity to view carving contest entries, watch carving demonstrations and participate in a hands-on lesson in whittling.
